YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP HELD AT CARNEGIE LIBRARY
Carnegie Public Library and Jane's Stories Press Foundation, with support from Steuben County (Indiana) Community Foundation,
offered a writing workshop for middle school students, led by local children's author, Linda Mowry. Students selected for
the workshop met weekly for an hour and a half at the Library between June 26th and July 31, 2007. Participants learned about
successful authors and the publishing process. They wrote, edited and published a joint chapbook of their own works, entitled
Of Pups and Pixies, Fear and Friendship, Wolves and Wild Horses.

| Civil Rights Poster Workshop |
In June, 2007, the St. Johns County (Florida) Cultural Council, Jane's Stories Press Foundation, and the St. Augustine
Foot Soldiers Remembrance Project co-sponsored a poster workshop for middle-school students. Workshop participants viewed
a film entitled Somebody Started Singing, which was funded by Jane's Stories in 2005 to help middle school students
write, edit, and produce a film on African-American history in St. Augustine. Participants then drew posters depicting the
film's portrayal of the City's civil rights history, which will be entered into a contest sponsored by the Foot Soldiers Project.
Jane Board President Glenda Bailey-Mershon assisted in the workshop, along with Foot Soldiers Chair Barbara Vickers, who is
writing her memoir, and volunteer Barbara Allen. Bailey-Mershon also produced and directed the film.
